September 2008

I am just writing to say that I am pregnant!!!!  I divorced shortly after the surgery, I am remarried to a wonderful man, and God has seen fit to bless us with a child!!  We are so excited and we are due May 10th!!

This is actually our 2nd pregnancy since the surgery. We miscarried twins June 30th. But everything looks good this time and we are hopeful!!

I will update when we know more!! I just want to thank the doctors and god for this opportunity. It would not be possible without them!!

August 2006

My surgery was Saturday July 29th. I am sitting here writing this 9 days post op and feeling great. I still can't believe it really happened. It took 4 years and lots of prayers to get to this point, but now that it is over, I am so relieved and feeling positive about the future. I know that part of my decision making process about whether to go to Mexico or not involved the reading of so many of the testimonies on this site. So, I hope that someone will read this one and feel better about going to Mexico for their surgery.

I can tell you, the care and treatment you receive in Mexico is 100 times better than any you would get in the U.S.  My husband went with me, he got to stay in the room, they fed him, made sure he was comfortable, and were as nice as they could be to him. Dr. Levi came in the night before surgery and spent quite a bit of time talking to us and answering our questions. It was a lot better than the 15 mins the docs here give to you.  Dr. Levi has a wonderful sense of humor and really put us at ease. The nurses don't speak English, but I have to say, we had no trouble communicating to them. They are very intuitive and respond very quickly when you have a request. Not to mention, they have a wonderful bedside manner. I have to say the whole experience was fantastic and I cannot think of one complaint.

I can't remember much about the surgery, I had to be put completely to sleep, so that part of it I cant help with. I didn't see the cross everyone talks about, but then I wasn't really looking for it either. I was pretty nervous when I got to the OR, but the anesthesiologist was there, he told me not to worry, that he would give me something to help with my fear. I was told to turn onto my side, and that is all I remember. The next thing I knew I was waking up on the table when they were getting ready to transport me back to my room.  I had mild pain as the epidural started to wear off. And, the nurses were right there with IV meds to alleviate any discomfort.  I also want to mention that they got the IV in on the second stick, which is in itself a real accomplishment. I am a very difficult stick and usually have to sit through 5 or 6 attempts before they get it.

The first 2 or 3 days after surgery I was in pain. Not to the point of tears, but I was really feeling it. Moving around was difficult and standing up straight was impossible. But, my tolerance for pain has always been low anyway. About the 4th day post op I was back to my old self without any discomfort at all. On day 9 we took out the stitches and now we are just looking forward to trying to get pregnant.

Dr Levi said that I was left with 7-8 centimeters on both sides. Which I am told is really wonderful. He didn't give me a percentage, but said that my husband would be the only thing stopping us. So, we are really excited. Hopefully I will be writing an update in a few months to announce that we are pregnant!!!!

If your doubting going to Mexico for this surgery, please don't. It was the best decision we ever made and we would recommend them to anyone.
