I am pleased to announce that we are 16 weeks and 4 days pregnant! I am due on 04/18/2011. I cannot believe that we got pregnant so easily. After one month of trying, we are awaiting the birth of our little miracle thanks to Dr. Perez and his staff. We find out what we are having between 2 and 3 1/2 weeks, so we will keep you updated!

Feb 2010

Hello. My name is Jessica Sands. I had my tubal reversal surgery December 11, 2009. I was very nervous because I had never been to Mexico and I had also never flown on a plane before. Every one of my planes had a delay and we ended up running from one terminal in Houston to the other on our way to McAllen because our plane was so late. We just made our flight and arrived in McAllen the day of surgery in the nick of time. The shuttle driver was there to meet us and we were on our way to the hospital.  He was very nice and helped us translate when we arrived to the hospital. My paperwork was filled out and we were left in the room to wait.

Shortly thereafter, two nurses came in to start an IV and draw blood on me. This was around 300. They didn't speak English, but we managed fine. It wasn't long after that when Dr. Perez came in to see me and ask questions. Finally, he told me we were going to go ahead and start the surgery early! I was wheeled into the operating room and it was just like being home back in the U.S.  They started my epidural and that is the last I remember until I woke up when the surgery was over. I guess once they gave me the sedative I was swinging arms so they had to put me asleep! I sure don't remember that! After the surgery the doctor came in to check on me. He asked my husband if he had eaten yet, of course he hadn't had anything since breakfast due to flight delays. Dr. Perez was kind enough to take him out to get something to eat. He came in several times. I had absolutely no pain and never once took any kind of pain medicine. The nurses came in to check on me once at the start of each shift and left me alone the rest of the time because I was doing so well.

The next morning the doctor came in to check on me again and told me that we were going to take my catheter and IV out and get me some real food! After I ate breakfast, I got up and took a shower and got fresh bandages put on. I still had very little pain, I was so surprised!  Before we knew it, lunchtime came around and after we ate, the shuttle was there to get us. We headed back to McAllen to our hotel to relax. My husband and I went to dinner at a restaurant by the hotel that evening, and we flew back home that next morning.

I had such a wonderful experience and I would recommend for anyone to go to see Dr. Perez and his staff.

We were told to wait at least two months before trying to conceive. This is where I will have to say that as being a nurse myself, I knew better than to not listen. I am probably the most stubborn patient and don't tend to follow orders. I took a home pregnancy test on January 20th and it was positive. Of course, to my horror, my pregnancy was an ectopic and I had to have a shot of methotrexate to dissolve the pregnancy last Thursday. I was so upset. I should have known better and listened to the doctor and instead, I caused myself and my husband much pain with this loss.  So please, listen to the doctor and wait. I now have to wait for two cycles to try to conceive again, so I ended up having to wait anyway and I risked damage to my obviously repaired tubes! I can honestly say that I definitely will listen from now on.

Good luck to everyone trying to conceive and thinking about choosing Rio Bravo reversals for your tubal ligation reversal. They truly are a blessing and deserve much praise for bringing dreams true!
